Black screen

Press View in full screen to fill your whole screen with black. Press Esc, or double-click or double-tap, to come back.

Your favorites come first on the home page and under the star at the top (in this browser).

Black screen

In full screen, press Esc to exit.

What it's for

  • Checking light bleeding: in a dark room, black shows whether light leaks at the edges or corners of the screen.
  • Finding bright dots: a pixel that stays lit stands out on black; the dead pixel test checks every color.
  • A dark screen: when you want the screen on but showing nothing.

Other colors

The buttons change the color: black, white, red, green, blue, yellow, cyan, magenta and gray, or any color you pick with the color selector.

Full screen

Full screen hides everything except the color, and the pointer disappears. If your browser doesn't allow full screen (some phones don't), the color fills the whole window instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I exit full screen?

Press Esc, or double-click or double-tap the screen.

Is it pure black?

Yes: #000000, red, green and blue at zero (0, 0, 0).

Will my screen turn off?

The page doesn't keep the screen on: your device dims or turns it off after its usual time.

Why do I see light at the edges?

On some screens light leaks around the edges; it's easiest to see on black in a dark room. Compare it with what your screen's maker says is normal for that model.
