Spacebar counter
Choose a time and press the spacebar as fast as you can. The timer starts with your first press.
Your favorites come first on the home page and under the star at the top (in this browser).
How it works
Each press counts the moment the key goes down. Holding the key down doesn't count again: the repeated presses your keyboard sends while a key is held are ignored. While the test is open, the spacebar doesn't scroll the page.
At the end you see the number of presses and the presses per second: presses divided by the seconds of the test. On a phone or tablet, tap the box instead.
If a press doesn't count
A spacebar that sometimes misses presses, or counts one press twice, shows up here as a count that doesn't match what you did. To look at the key on its own, use the keyboard test.
Frequently asked questions
Does holding the spacebar count?
No, only separate presses. The automatic repeat of a held key is ignored.
Why doesn't the page scroll when I press space?
Because the test uses the spacebar, the page stops it from scrolling. It still types spaces in text fields.
Can I use it without a keyboard?
Yes: on a touchscreen, every tap inside the box counts.
Is my best score saved?
Yes, in your own browser, one for each test length. It isn't sent anywhere.
